Hi and thanks for visiting.
My
paintings are created to evoke fond memories of travel. Like those memories,
the paintings relate to the warm, happy emotions gained by the experience of
travelling to locales near and far, new and dear. As the pace of life ever
rapidly increases, we need time out to take in the view. My hope is to
communicate the romantic ideal of our world as an astounding place. The
ambiguous nature of the landscapes allows you to associate them with places you’ve
visited.
Colour
is an important aspect of my practice. Although the subject matter is romantic
realistic portrayals of sea and sky, the palate is current and relates to our
high definition images of the world. I find great excitement in successfully
combining odd colours not often used together for the creation of landscapes. I
do use historical layering processes to build the colours and evoke light. Some
paintings contain air balloons, boats, ships, planes, jet streams and
dirigibles to place the image in a particular time. These floating wonders adds
to the painting a form of escape, as to say, jump in and enjoy the ride to
paradise.
Our
days begin with plans which can be altered by our environment and vice versa.
The end of the day is a chance to pause and reflect. I feel it’s important to
bring a sense of spiritual calm and transcendence to our daily lives. We travel
hoping to find bliss and I try to capture that bliss in my work for individuals
to enjoy permanently.
I
am a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and have exhibited in Toronto with
several galleries - Garnet Press gallery, Cold City gallery, Robert Birch
gallery, and the Art Gallery of Ontario Rental/Sales. Additionally, I exhibited
with the Southern Exposure Centre for Contemporary Art in San Francisco. I
exhibit at art fairs and open-air events such as the Riverdale Artwalk and
Artist Project Toronto.
I
was previously on the board of directors for Mercer Union Contemporary Art
Gallery and C International Contemporary Art. I have also curated and written
about art for Mercer Union and C International Contemporary Art. My paintings
are in private, corporate and university collections in Canada and the U.S.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration
I'm inspired by the romantic period in art and it's portrayal of landscape. I'm informed by travel, literature, film, tv and how it portrays our current world.
Techniques
I use historical layering processes to create my paintings, but will break the rules to bring excitement to the works. I love combining odd colours not often used together in landscape painting.
career highlights
Getting the opportunity to exhibit at so many great and varied places. Ultimately it's a great when people love and decide to add one of my paintings to their colleciton.
